Ken had been doing my tax returns for several years and I never had a problem; this year, however, things changed. I moved to Az and called and asked him if he could prepare my Az and Ca taxes. he said he could. I faxed him copious documents, as I had sold a house I lived in for 30 years and purchased a new house. I called and asked if my documents had been received and was told by his son, Brent, they had been. I called as time was getting near to the tax deadline and was told by Ken that my taxes had been prepared but that he had gotten an extension. I called again last week, approximately June 3, and that was the first I heard that he could not find my documents - they must have been misplaced was his comment. I called again on or about June 13 and was told he couldn't locate my documentation; that they had probably gotten misplaced in another of my files. Today, at about 5:00, I received a call from his secretary or some woman in his office asking if I could resend them. No was my answer. Some of the documentation had been shredded as I asked him if I could and he told me I could. How did I know he was lying to me. So, now I stand without my taxes being done; some of the paperwork is missing and I do not know what to do. I can't believe this. If this is not resolved, I am filing a complaint with whichever agency I can. Now it turns out he is only a tax preparer, not even an accountant, as I thought all along he was.
