Horrible customer service. Do not recommend. I wish I can give this firm 0 starts.

We are a small partnership which opened approx. 6 months ago. Around March we decided to seek help from a CPA to set up the partnership and help us with our employment taxes and so on. My partner found Joe online and we decided to make an appointment with him. Joe was quickly to ask us for a retainer $1000.00 so he could start working on our taxes (both personal and corporate). After a few weeks my partner needed some help with some legal matters and emailed him (CC me on it) but he ever replied. My partner emailed him at least 2 more times with specific questions and concerns but Joe or someone from his office never contacted us. Because these are tax related matters that can incur in hefty fines, both my partner and I started to get very uncomfortable due to the lack of communication from his office or Joe personally. He did finally email us back explaining us he didn't have the time to work on our case, because we came late in the year for help (something we understand but again believe should have been disclosed at our initial visit before taking the retainer). He said on this email his office was going to file extensions and was only going to help us with our 2015 941 because it was a priority. “I do agree that we need to first handle the 941 correction for 4th qtr, and then will have our 2nd qtr due after this month ends.” (he never worked on this like he said he would) But after several weeks and a few letters from the IRS we decided to contact him again, we couldn't really wait any longer. Well no luck this time either. After at least 3 more emails we told Joe we were going to dispute the charge from the credit card for the retainer he charged us. That same day surprisingly, we finally heard from him. He said him and his office were "frustrated" because we were expecting "preferential treatment" above his other well established clients when we only gave him a $1000.00 retainer. Now, perhaps for Joe $1000.00 is not that much money. But for us 1k is a lot. He said on the email among many other things, that work was indeed performed in our case (even though he contradicted himself earlier on March when he told us he didn't have any time to work on our case whatsoever). Joe ended up charging us over $550 dollars because his bookkeeper not himself did "a bit of cleaning" in our QuickBooks and helped us reconciling two months of our bank account. He still charged us $175 and hour of course for a job not him who is a CPA, but his bookkeeper did. But the most outrageous charge was the one from the email he wrote to us (that I mentioned earlier) after we tried several times to know the status of our case and our taxes, telling us that he was going to have to file an extension, due to his lack of time, and that the only help he was going to give us was help with our 2015 Qtr 4 941 taxes, which he never did! Well,he charged for writing that email $80.50. Not only he didn't do anything he said he would, but charged us for writing an email to excuse himself from not doing anything! So if you are in the market for a CPA please do yourself a favor and hire someone that appreciates your business, someone that is up front, instead of taking your money and then drag his feet.
