My husband and I used Jackie to prepare our taxes for 2017. She was recommended to us by a friend. We were very happy with the price she charged and it was very nice that she met us where we wanted, which made it very convenient. Unfortunately we did not have the best experience overall. Initially we were very happy to receive about $4500 back from federal and Colorado State taxes, but my husband is a Georgia resident and Georgia said we owed $600, which didn't seem right because Jackie said we would receive ~$500 from Georgia. She said she called the Georgia Department of Revenue and was on the phone with them for 3 hours. She told us they were including my income as part of their calculation on what we owe, which didn't make sense because I am a Colorado resident and had already paid my state tax on what I made. Jackie said she submitted an amendment and that it was denied. I asked her several times to send us the amendment and she never did. We eventually called the Georgia Department of Revenue ourselves and they told us the problem was that the initial form 500 for Georgia filled out by Jackie was incorrect and told us which form we needed to submit. We ended up hiring a different CPA to amend our taxes because it took Jackie over a month to get back to us when we would try to contact her. The new CPA we hired told us that every part of our taxes (federal, Colorado state, and Georgia state) had a discrepancy and she had to amend all of it. We now have to pay back ~$2000 to federal and Georgia for the mistakes Jackie made on our taxes. Not only do we have to pay that, but we also had to pay another CPA to amend our taxes. I asked Jackie for the money back that we paid her to do our taxes and she said she would send a Cashiers check. She also told us her excuse for not doing our taxes properly was because she also works a full time job to feed her family and is going through chemo. We never received the check so I emailed her to let her know that if we didn't receive the check in the next 2 weeks I would have to write a bad review, and here we are. Take what you've learned from our experience to make your decision on whether or not you want to work with her. I may sound harsh to write a bad review on someone who is going through chemo, but she shouldn't be doing people's taxes if she isn't able to do them properly. This has been more than a headache for us this past year and I really would hate for anyone else to have to deal with all of this.
