I filed my taxes Oct 15 after getting an extension. Gave Richard my two w-2 forms, my unemployment forms, and all my invoices from my freelance gigs. Then I received a summary form in the mail, asking for my signature authorization to file my taxes. After checking his work, I saw that he forgot one of my w-2 forms and had added together my invoices incorrectly. After calling him about this, he said that he had already filed the taxes (without my authorization). He still has yet to call me back to file an amendment to fix these errors even tho I have called him several times to do so. May have been better to figure this out on my own than have this person take $250 to file my taxes incorrectly and possibly cause an audit.
